Re: Electrolysis Analysis & Rectification On 480DB Sea Ray
We wish to confirm the privilege of having been able to engage the professional and diligent services of Brett Maddern to diagnose, rectify and implement permanent "electrolysis control" on our Sea Ray Cruiser.
Briefly we took delivery of a new 48' Sea Ray cruiser direct from the Florida factory, landed in Fremantle, Western Australia, where there was no Dealer representation. The accessories included an alloy hydraulic swim platform and factory fitted 240 volt TV / Entertainment appliances in lieu of the standard American 110 volt units.
With due respect to Sea Ray and in view of the non-standard combination of the above components, the vessel immediately showed signs of active Electrolysis action with advanced corrosion of the Aluminium Platform structure and sacrificial anodes.
We were most fortunate to locate Brett as an expert in this field and it was found that the 240V TVs had a unique antenna grounding that was in fact sending current to earth, together with bonding issues of other metal components.
However, Brett neutralised all of the above under full sanction of Sea Ray's New Zealand sales office, Sports Marine and the US factory have reinstalled all damaged components to our full satisfaction.
Subsequently, Brett has installed a permanent cathodic protection monitoring device which provides the ultimate piece of mind, knowing all is `under control' whilst at the same time greatly reducing the quantity of zinc anodes previously utilized.
The above have all contributed to virtually eliminating contimination growth on the antifouled / fibreglass hull, over the past 12 months in salt water conditions, and it has only been the uncoated metal components that attracted any weed and barnacle presence.
We sincerely express our gratitude for this service in efficiently and accurately protecting our `asset' from the rigors of corrosive action as identified and have no hesitation in recommending the services and equipment provided by Brett to any serious boat owner.
I would be pleased to elaborate on any of the above and may be contacted at Roy Perron & Associates in Perth, Western Australia.

Re: Electrolysis Blocker
I wish to acknowledge the services of Marina Protection Systems for promptly diagnosing a serious electrolysis problem on my 50' Precision "Outrageous". The vessel had lost its stainless steel transom box and deck that had been specifically designed for game fishing to corrosion, costing me over $10,000.00 to replace.
Marina Protection Systems were most impressive with their monitoring and auditing of all onboard electrical devices and appliances, as well as the affect of the shore power supply. They successfully arrested earth-leakage and electrolysis problems on my vessel.
With the installation of an Electrolysis Blocker, electrolysis and earth-leakage problems have stopped. I have also installed a permanent Marina Protection System to monitor the cathodic protection installation. This system gives me the ability to read a meter and asses the effectiveness of cathodic protection. This gives me peace of mind whenever I step onboard.
The services provided by Marina Protection Systems were professional and efficient to ultimately reduce the amount of zinc anodes required and virtually eliminate any hull growth over the past 18 month period in a salt water environment.
In view of the above, I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Marina Protection Systems and the equipment. Their understanding of this complex subject is essential for any serious boat owner in protecting their asset and investment from the rigors of corrosion and electrolysis.

To Whom It May Concern
I purchased a new Black Watch 36ft from Queensland in March 2002. This has got to be the most seaworthy vessel I have ever purchased.. After 2-1/2 months we lifted the vessel out of the water and found the props had been badly corroded from electrolysis.
I was advised to contact Brett Maddern of Marina Protection..
Brett did various tests on my system and advised me to fit an electrolysis block. We had the block fitted and eight months later have lifted the vessel from the water and found the new props I had fitted are still in A1 condition.
I found Brett to be very efficient, professional and experienced in this field. Thanks to his diagnosis I now feel very confident that he has solved my electrolysis problem.
Yours sincerely

Re: Marina Electrolysis/corrosion and Rectification
We wish to acknowledge the products and services acquired from Brett Maddern, Marina Protection Systems Pty.Ltd. Brett was readily able to identify the causes of corrosion and current irregularities experienced by our staff and patrons. Since engaging Brett and Marina Protection System's electrolysis blocker, our patrons and we have noticed a reduced rate of corrosion in the past two years.
His services were most impressive in monitoring and auditing marina and patrons needs, thereby increasing our awareness. Implementation of the Electrolysis Blockers into the marina wiring harness in 2002, has placated concerned boat owners about corrosion and made the marina passive in the environment.
The services Brett provided were most professional and efficient to ultimately reduce the rate of heavy metals being released into our waterways by approximately 40%. Providing many benefits to our boaters and less alkaline degradation of timber/concrete to our floating pontoons and pylons. The Blockers extend the project lifetime of the marina assets and our maintenance budget.
In view of the above, we have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Brett Maddern and Marina Protection Systems to any serious marina and boater considering taking on the complex issues involved in marine corrosion.
I would be pleased to elaborate on any of the above and may be contacted at Sanctuary Cove Marina Operations, PO Box 199, Sanctuary Cove, QLD 4212, Australia.
Yours sincerely
